Italian Kitchen

Armed with a couple of the very common Glowbal group vouchers, one for a free teaser and one for a free main course when you buy two mains and two appies, we decided to head to Italian Kitchen.  We'd been there once before and received poor service, but the food was good so we decided to give them a second chance.  Upon arriving, we were promptly seated and greeted with glasses of water.  The waiter was friendly and overall, the service was much better this time around.

We started with our teasers - the typical meatball teasers that are given out at Glowbal and Trattoria.  They are always good.

Meatball Teaser

For our appetizers, we had:

Organic Beets Salad
baby arugula, ash goat’s cheese
shallot vinaigrette

 Crispy Fried Calamari
spicy sicilian tomato sauce

The Beets were pretty standard, but the goat cheese was quite strong; I found it very off-putting.  The calamari was very tasty, though I found it to be slightly chewy.  The sauce had a nice kick to it.

For our mains we had their two most expensive pastas on the menu:

 Lobster Tagliatelle
fresh atlantic lobster, sweet peas, tomato mascarpone sauce

Spaghetti with Spicy Kobe Meatballs
truffle cream sauce, tomato garlic confit, herb ricotta

I found the lobster tagliatelle to be ok, but the spaghetti and meatballs were amazingly good, maybe the best that I've had.  The truffle cream sauce is unbelievably tasty.

Overall Impressions: While service seems to be pretty hit or miss at all Glowbal group restaurants, this time it was quite good.  The spaghetti and meatballs are a must order, but I'd pass on the lobster tagliatelle.  However, they have plenty of other tasty pastas and pizzas to choose from, so go with one of the cheaper ones and you should be good!
