Glowbal Grill Steaks & Satay

This weekend, we went to Glowbal Grill Steaks and Satay twice! I actually forgot that I've made reservations for Sunday dinner and we ended up going there on Saturday for brunch!

Every Sunday, Glowbal has a special promotion on their prime rib. For $24, you get a 10oz prime rib, yorkshire pudding, organic arugula heirloom tomato salad and a side of poutine! It's a pretty good deal! And another great thing is that I have a card for a Free Teaser at any of the Glowbal group restaurants. I brought this card to both brunch and dinner!

Brunch

Brunch at Glowbal is served Saturday & Sundays until 3pm. We ordered our free teasers, a couple of Short Rib Satays, the Lobster Benedict and the Yaletown Breakfast.

Meatball and Short Rib Satays
Served with Thai slaw, garlic sauce and hot Chinese mustard

Meatball Satay
With tomato fondue

The meatball satay our Free Teaser. The meatball was a bit dry and wasn't as good as it usually is.

I liked the Thai slaw and the garlic dipping sauce that came with the satays. I didn't like the hot mustard dipping sauce as it didn't taste like anything... It was just hot.

Short Rib Satay
With truffle aioli

The short rib satay was really good. The meat was tender and it also had these crispy bits on top that added to the texture.

Lobster Benedict
Atlantic lobster, poached eggs, lobster hollandaise crispy pancetta, cheddar biscuit.

The biscuit that came with the lobster benedict was super dry. You know the feeling of trying to eat 6 saltine crackers in a row? The dry feeling in your mouth? That's how dry that biscuit was. So it wasn't enjoyable to eat. The rest of the dish was good though! Large chunks of lobster, the potatoes were really well seasoned and the hollandaise wasn't heavy.

Yaletown Breakfast
Scrambled eggs, smoked bacon, Italian sausage, potato hash, cheddar biscuit

This dish was pretty average. Looks like any other breakfast dish. The eggs were tasty and the bacon was crispy. The sausage was average. All this food for $12 is not too bad.

Dinner - Prime Rib Sundays

Knowing what we all wanted, we all ordered the Prime Rib special. For $24, I don't think you can go wrong! If you're not a fan of poutine, you can substitute it with a baked potato or for $4 extra, you can get a lobster baked potato instead.

There was 6 of us, so we received an assortment of satays with the free teaser card.

Assortment of Satays
Meatballs, Short Ribs, Coconut Chicken and Wild Salmon

The chicken and salmon were a bit dry and was my least favourite out of the bunch. The meatballs this time around weren't dry at all and were really good!

And... here is the prime rib!

Prime Rib, Yorkshire Pudding, Organic Arugula Heirloom Tomato Salad, Poutine

When the plate came out, I was shocked at how much food there was on the plate! I couldn't finish all that food. The prime rib had a really nice crust and was really good! Salad and yorkshire pudding was really fresh too. And of course, the poutine was good too! The food was tasty and I wanted to finish it all. But I knew I couldn't. The next day, I was so full from all this food that I didn't even eat breakfast!

What's even larger was my friend's lobster baked potato...For $4 extra, the potato was loaded with lobster and was really good!

Lobster Baked Potato

And... one more photo of the prime rib! =)

Overall Impressions: Glowbal is a solid restaurant. There's a lot of selection on their menu and the prices are pretty average for this type of restaurant. I think the Prime Rib Sunday is a great deal. For $24, you get more food than you can eat and there will be leftovers! I will be returning to Glowbal for another Prime Rib Sunday as long as this promotion is still running.
