Michael's Wilton Cake Decorating Classes -> Lesson 3 and 4

Work has gotten soooo busy and it's been a while since I've blogged! >____<

I've just finished the first course (Decorating Basics) of the Wilton Cake Decorating Classes that are offered at Michael's craft stores. I must say that I've learned a lot and enjoyed the class a lot. This class is a good introductory class for those who are interested in cake decorating.

For the 3rd lesson, we learned how to make drop flowers, rosettes, shell boarders, pom flowers, leaves and how to ice and fill cupcakes. I had to bring 6 cupcakes to the class and decided to make some vanilla cupcakes and fill it with strawberry jam. I realized that I should have mixed my icing colours before class... it actually takes some time to get the right colour!

Cupcakes!

After that class, I also made some Peanut Butter and Jelly mini cupcakes :D

And finally, for the last lesson, I had to make a cake and bring it in to decorate as the final project. I decided to make a Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting. For this class, we learned how to make Ribbon Roses. The flowers look nice and I can't believe how simple it was to make them too!

For my cake, I decided to make a Resident Evil Umbrella Cake! With the roses somehow.. I think I managed to incorporate it into the cake somehow!

I brought this cake into work the next day and it was gone within 10 minutes!

Overall Impressions: I think this class is a good stepping stone for those who want to dabble into cake decorating. But you do need to buy all your supplies and the cost can add up. And this does take a bit of time to prepare the cakes and icing for each class. But other than that, I'm glad I took the class and am looking forward in taking the next course: Flowers and Cake Design!
