Dine Out Vancouver - 100 Days

Our second Dine Out experience together was at 100 Days.  100 Days is a pop-up restaurant located in the OPUS Hotel and is open only for 100 days. When I walked in, my first impression of the decor was: interesting and funky. There was unique graffiti art sprayed over the walls, empty spray paint cans lining the windowsill, and the menu was written on giant chalk boards on the walls with different colour fluorescent lights illuminating them and the room.  The folding chairs give the restaurant a sense of temporary-ness which makes sense given that its time is limited, and I suppose makes it easier to redecorate as they are doing constantly throughout the restaurant's life cycle.  However they are not terribly comfortable to sit on.

We started with cocktails.  They were featuring 3 on their dine out menu, and since there were three of us, we decided to try all of them.

Dine Out Vancouver - Ouisi Bistro

For Dine Out Vancouver this year, we decided to try three restaurants we'd never been to before.  First up: Ouisi!

There were two bottles of hot sauce on our table.  I'd had Franks Red Hot many times, so I tried the Auntie Bev's Hot Sauce.  It was pretty spicy and lingered for awhile.

Dine Out Vancouver - Fleuri

Fleuri was the first restaurant I went to for Dine Out Vancouver this year. Fleuri is located inside the Sutton Place Hotel and it was the restaurant that my sister wanted to try. When we arrived, we were a bit early, and we were seated right away. During Dine Out, Fleuri also offers their regular menu alongside their dine out menu.

We were hungry and we knew what we wanted to order. For appetizers, they offer 3 different choices, a Baked Onion & Parsnip Veloute, Smoked Duck & Beets Salad, or Walnuts & Goat Cheese Salad. My sister and I ordered the Smoked Duck & Beets and my brother had the Baked Onion & Parsnip Veloute. For the entrees, the choices were a Ling Cod, Beef Tenderloin Medallion & Braised Beef Flat Iron, or a Pappardelle Pasta. We all had the Beef Tenderloin Medallion & Braised Beef Flat Iron. For dessert, there was only 1 item available and it was the Buttermilk Ice Cream Demi Sel & Chocolate Bar.

Dine Out Vancouver 2011 - Jan. 24th to Feb. 6th

Dine Out Vancouver is a yearly event celebrating BC food and wine. This year will be the 9th year for DOV! With over 200 restaurants participating, each restaurant will offer a 3 course meal for either $18, $28 or $38. This is a chance for people to try different types of food at a variety of restaurants. This year, DOV will run from January 24th to February 6th. The menus were released today and restaurants are already taking reservations. There are a select few that aren't taking reservations and are doing a first come first serve basis.

The list of restaurants can be found here:

After looking through most of the menus, only 2 restaurants caught my interest... So it looks like only 2 restaurants for me this year =)
