DB Bistro - Brunch

We've been to DB Bistro many times for brunch, but have yet to blog about it, so last Saturday we decided to rectify that and headed over to West Broadway.  The restaurant was decently busy, but we got a table immediately and got coffee.

We started with our usual - a selection of fresh pastries:

Selection Of Viennoiserie - For the Table -
Tray of Fresh Breakfast Pastries, Butter, and Jam
$12

The last few times we had this, it included a croissant, a chocolate croissant, a blueberry muffin, and brioche toast.  This time it had a croissant, the brioche toast, a cinnamon roll, and a caramel apple cake.  As usual, all were incredibly fresh and delicious.  The cake was very moist and not too sweet.  The croissant was buttery and flaky.  The cinnamon roll was good but I would've liked a bit more chewiness to it.  The toast was just toast, but the butter and jam went well with it.

For our mains, FlowerBunny had the Reuben Sandwich:

Reuben Sandwich - Housemade Brisket,
Housemade Sauerkraut, Russian Dressing
$14

The sandwich was delicious.  The bread was fresh, and the brisket was very tasty.  The fries were nice and crisp, and the Russian Dressing reminded me of a cross between thousand island dressing and tartar sauce.  It was good with the fries.

I chose the famous DB Burger for my entree:

The Original DB Burger - Sirloin Burger
filled with Braised Short Ribs, Black Truffle,
served on a Parmesan Bun
$28

I've wanted to try this for awhile, and it did not disappoint!  One thing they don't list on the menu is that there is also a square of fois gras stuffed in the burger as well.  It all meshed together wonderfully - the sirloin was a perfect medium rare and full of beef flavour, the shortribs added a really nice texture and the fois gras was creamy and delicious.  This is easily one of, if not the best burger I've ever had.

Overall Impressions: We've loved DB Bistro for awhile, as it never disappoints.  Normally when we're there for lunch we'll get something more breakfast-y, with the duck poutine being one of my favourites.  This time we went for more lunch oriented dishes and they were amazing as always.
