Beefy Beef Noodle is owned by the same people who run No. 1 Beef Noodle House in Burnaby. I often went to No. 1 Beef Noodle House for lunch when I worked out in Burnaby and really liked the food there. I was curious about their sister restaurant.
Strawberry Slush & Peach Calpis
We ordered:
- Strawberry Slush
- Peach Calpis
- Korean Style BBQ Beef with Rice
- Tofu with Minced Pork + Chili Sauce with Rice (Mapo Tofu)
- Vegetable & Tofu Egg Drop Soup
- Shanghai Style Dumpling (xiao long bao)
Korean Style BBQ Beef with Rice
My boyfriend ordered the Korean style Beef and he liked the dish. He said it tasted like "typical Korean beef". He didn't like the kimchi that came with it as it was too spicy for him.
Tofu with Minced Pork + Chili Sauce with Rice (Mapo Tofu)
My friend had the tofu dish and it looked like she enjoyed her dish. Looks tasty!
Vegetable & Tofu Egg Drop Soup
I had the soup. I wasn't really hungry that night and just wanted something lighter. There was plenty of tofu and veggies in the soup. And it was a huge bowl of soup too. Tasty.
Shanghai Style Dumpling (Xiao Long Bao)
I didn't eat any of these, but my friend who ordered them really liked it a lot. He said it was really "juicy". And he "mmmm"-ed when he ate one. So I'm just going to assume it's good. =)
Overall Impressions: Strangely enough, none of us ordered the salty peppery chicken there. So I don't know whether it is good or not. But the rest of the food we ordered was good and the bubble tea was just as good as No. 1 Beef Noodle House. The service there is okay and efficient, like any typical Bubble Tea/Chinese place. But I will definitely go back for the bubble tea and also to try the salty peppery chicken.

Hi Flowerbunny: Wow, since when did a Taiwanese style restaurant started serving XLB? Gosh, everyone seems to want in on the action these days. Oh yeah ... not only that you did not order the salt pepper chicken, you did not order the "BEEFY BEEF NOODLE" too? :-)
ReplyDeleteNice post, BTW
Ben
Hi Ben! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure when Taiwanese restaurants started serving XLB! I've only seen this at No. 1 and at Beefy Beef Noodle. It is a bit funny how none of us ordered the chicken or the beef noodles haha. But next time! =D
Actually, many Taiwanese restaurants here serves XLB, in fact one of the popular XLB place is Dinesty, a Taiwanese-Shanghai-Style restaurant...with chefs from Din Tai Feng and Dian-Shui-Lo
